The Battle of Brandywine brings to life the largest engagement of the Revolutionary War, fought on September 11, 1777, between the Continental Army led by General George Washington and the British forces headed by General William Howe.
This website features a specially created sequence of Driving Tours which trace the troop movements while allowing visitors to enjoy the rich diversity of offerings in the Brandywine region.
The PHMC (Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commissioner) is currently working with local groups to transfer management of the site. Brandywine Battlefield Historic Park exhibit buildings are temporarily closed; however the grounds are open for your enjoyment Monday through Friday.
