This series of original paintings by Bernard Hoffman of Benjamin Franklin's life was commissioned to celebrate Benjamin Franklin's 250th Birthday. They were first printed as souvenir stamps and distributed to every American Embassy around the world and also to many large corporations throughout the United States. A framed print of Ben Franklin, Scientist is now hanging in Phildelphia's Benjamin Franklin Institute next to Norman Rockwell's Ben Franklin.

Bernard Hoffman
Born in Los Angeles and raised in New York City, Bernard Hoffman has been drawing and painting since elementary school. At age 10, he was awarded a scholarship to The Little Red Schoolhouse Saturday art classes in Greenwich Village. He then gained admission to the High School of Music & Art. During high school, he won another scholarship to The School for Art Studies. After graduating high school he won a scholarshipto attend college at Pratt Institute. He has also attended figure and portrait classes at the Art Students League. During the Korean War, the US Navy used his special skills to supervise a specialized art unit designing posters and illustrating manuals & classified projects. He established an aviation safety newsletter that has since grown into the well respected colorful US Naval Aviation Magazine. Leaving the Navy in 1954, Hoffman founded Benaul Associates Advertising, an art studio and advertising agency in New York City.
