President's House in Philadelphia

Where Washington and Adams lived when Philadelphia was the national capital, from 1790-1800. Where Washington kept 9 enslaved, including Oney Judge and Hercules.

This house was the Executive Mansion of the United States from 1790 to 1800 during Philadelphia's tenure as the national capital. George Washington and John Adams each lived and worked here for most of their presidencies. The house stood one block north of Independence Hall.

The entrance to the new Liberty Bell Center is just 5 feet from the location where Washington housed several of his slaves.
