American Indian Cultural Center of the Delaware Valley

Here was the heart of the American Indian community locally.

A short walk from the Liberty Bell was, until 2004, the American Indian Cultural Center. It served as the heart of the American Indian community in the Delaware Valley. Visitors were treated to a small exhibit of American Indian crafts. The Trading Post had arts and crafts and jewelry for sale. In July 1995, a new statue of Chief Tamamend, the Lenape Indian chief who greeted William Penn, was unveiled by the Center at Front and Market Streets.

Among other functions, the UAIDV offers assistance to American Indians in need. It was established in 1975.
