Lea & Febiger, Publishers
On the south side of the square is a pseudo-Italian palazzo, which once belonged to Lea & Febiger, publishers. When Philadelphia was a great publishing center, Washington Square was "publishers' row" and there is a good deal of publishing activity here today.
